  • The Senior Pastor/Head of Staff is the supervisor to this position.
  • This position is: full-time, salaried, program staff.

The Family Ministry Director will be responsible for envisioning, organizing, and leading a relationally based ministry to birth through high school age children/youth and their families in the Bloomington/Normal region.

  • A commitment to the vision and mission of Second Pres.
  • Two years of experience or more in ministering with excellence to children/youth/families, including the unchurched preferred.
  • Graduate degree in the area of theology is preferred.

  • Develop and oversee strategic and sustained ministry initiatives including:
  • Weekly Sunday morning education for children and youth
  • Mid-week ministry to children and youth
  • Plan and implement strategic outreach events including mission projects
  • Organization of Special Events
  • Integration of families in worship
  • Develop, equip, and shepherd leadership team/teachers/ministry partners
  • Engage parents as the primary spiritual mentors of their children
  • Develop Christian education classes for parents/guardians
  • Collaborate with the ministry team in implementing a family ministry strategy
  • Partner with staff at Second Pres in its overall mission, including a willingness to lead and engage in other ministry opportunities at Second Pres as needed

To be a successful Church Custodian, you should be observant, respectful, motivated, and committed to providing church members, visitors, and staff with a clean, orderly place to worship and congregate. You should also be knowledgeable about proper chemical handling and cleaning techniques and have the ability to make basic repairs.

  • - Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • - Basic computer knowledge to review church calendar, program HVAC settings and use email to correspond with others.
  • - Motivation to work independently or with others to provide thorough, efficient custodial services to the church.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Maintaining clean church facilities by performing weekly duties and daily spot cleaning in all public areas of the building, including bathrooms,      sanctuary, kitchens, and meeting rooms.
  •  Working with other maintenance team members and church staff to ensure that all areas are cleaned and stocked with necessary items.
  •  Observing proper chemical handling procedures when working with cleaning agents, including wearing gloves, goggles, or masks and following written or verbal instructions.
  •  Assisting with event preparations and clean up.
  •  Interacting with church staff and visitors in a respectful, positive manner.
  •  Performs minor repair of all buildings and equipment. Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Performs outside custodial duties as required including snow removal and lawn care.
  • Assist in controlling and regulating HVAC system.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
